Can't continue with installation because my Intel 82801 BA Ultra ATA Controller drivers are not current. Did a search on the Intel support web site for updated drivers and found that they longer make and support this device. Anybody else have this problem or can anybody offer any suggestions on how to get drivers? I have a Gateway 700XL and the Gateway support site doesn't have the drivers either....

I went to change my BIOS settings but it was already set to both. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

If the setting is supposed to be in IDE Controllers under the Advanced Tab, I do not have AHCI as an option - only Disabled, Primary, Secondary, or Both.

I have the exact same problem, with a Gateway 1500XL. This is technically an Intel 850G Mobo, but proprietary to Gateway. I've upgraded the BIOS as far as Gateway has supported it, (stopped in 2002). Still looking for a way around this problem, appears to be the IDE driver, for which there is no upgrade anymore.

ok, under the advanced tab, make sure your settings read this, "onboard PATA/SATA [ BOTH ] and the other one is SATA MODE [ AHCI ] that should correct the problems you are having. then when you install vista i recommend creating a new partion and leaving xp on your machine like i did that way if you have problems with your vista as i have then you will be able to use xp as a back up while u work with vista on the same machine, you can email me directly for help at rscharp@sbcglobal.net or yahoo messanger rscharp@sbcglobal.net if i can assist you any other way!
